Connect DebtEngines to Claude.ai and run your debt plan in conversation.
Four steps to connect. 40+ tools available the moment you do. Below is the full reference — what each tool does, the prompts that trigger it, and a few multi-tool workflows that save the most time.
Talk to Claude in any language it supports — English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and more. DebtEngines itself is English-only today; Claude handles the translation on both sides of the conversation.
4-step setup
About 3 minutes total. You'll need a Claude.ai account (free or paid both work).
- 1
Create your DebtEngines account
Sign up with your email. Free tier supports up to 3 debts — enough to test the connector end-to-end before upgrading.
Sign up - 2
Generate an API key
Once logged in, go to Account → API Keys and click Generate new key. Give it a memorable label (e.g. "Claude.ai") and copy the key — you'll see it only once.
Go to API Keys - 3
Add the DebtEngines connector in Claude.ai
In Claude.ai, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste this MCP server URL:
https://mcp.debtengines.comWhen Claude prompts for an API key, paste the key from Step 2. That's it — Claude now sees all your tools.
- 4
Ask your first question
Start a new Claude chat and try one of these to verify everything is wired:
- "Show me my DebtEngines profile."
- "Help me add my credit cards."
- "Run an avalanche payoff plan with $1,200/month."
Tip: if Claude says it doesn't see the new tools, go back to Settings → Connectors → DebtEngines and click Reload tools.

Common multi-tool workflows
Where AI orchestration shines: one prompt, several tools called in sequence, a coherent answer at the end.
Onboard a new user end-to-end
You just signed up and want everything imported in one Claude session.
- 1.Add 4 credit cards in one message — Claude calls create_debt for each, in parallel.
- 2.Add a car loan with the original amount, APR, term, and current balance.
- 3.Set your monthly budget for debt: "I have $1,500/month to throw at this."
- 4.Run an avalanche plan and a snowball plan, compare them, and save the better one.
- 5.Set up the upcoming-payments calendar so Claude can remind you before due dates.
Monthly check-in
Once a month, on a Sunday morning, take five minutes.
- 1.Log every payment you made since last check-in (Claude can take a paste from your bank statement).
- 2.Ask Claude to compare your actual vs. saved plan — flag any drift.
- 3.For drifted debts: confirm_plan_debt if it was a one-off, or mark_for_review and adjust the plan.
- 4.Run get_debt_optimization to see if rebalancing monthly commitments would shave months off.
Promo card expiration sweep
Two months before any 0%-APR promo ends — Claude can warn you in advance.
- 1.Ask Claude: "Which of my promo offers expire in the next 60 days?"
- 2.For each expiring promo: ask what the post-promo APR is and how much principal is left.
- 3.Have Claude simulate paying it off in time vs. carrying it forward — see the interest difference.
- 4.Adjust monthlyCommitment on that card to clear it before the promo ends (if feasible).
